Got what I wanted for Christmas, a 5 shelf Excalibur Dehydrator. Once upon a time had a 9 shelf one, but it was too big for my use and gave it to a friend who is still using it, some 15 years later.  This one is a bit of a disappointment. It is a much flimsier plastic body as are the shelves.  Still the reviews are good for it in terms of the motor and fan working well.  Am looking forward to using it in the spring.  Before that, there may still be jerky to be made, and even some fruit leather with left over preserves.  Its biggest drawback? its noisy.  I can still use my old ronco, in all its dark plastic glory, in the greenhouse as a solar drier.
