two years ago, bought from  the local nursery a bag labeled “shallots”.  Planted same and as usual, did not wait for the tops to fall over before harvesting.  Used some, nice and mild, replanted rest last fall.  This is some of that harvest.  It wasn’t until the started to produce these tall stalks, that sprouted bulbils like the walking onions that I looked up shallots.  And shallots, true ones, don’t do that.  Harvested these today.  The bulbs are bigger than those that have been coming on the egyptian / walking onions I’d been given.  Will let these dry some, and then will find out if they are milder.  If they are, will pass over to these.
