yarn decanter

When I was a kiddy, and I’m talking brownie scout age, we made a yarn decanter out of a large quaker oats container.  Painted or decoupaged or contact paper the outside, put a hole in the top, ran a string as a handle, VOILA, a gift for Mom. But that round quaker oats box wasn’t always big enough for the fat ball of wool, so got stuffed into the corner, or just held the mish mash of knitting needles or crochet hooks.

While have two great yarn bowls, they are not always big enough for the ball of yarn at the moment, so are sometimes next to useless.  Nor do they keep the yarn clean when its sitting between enthusiasm; momentum lost in the middle of a project.

But this idea is GREAT!  Glass, so you have to be careful.  And while not a coffee drinker, see these carafes as the thrift shop for next to nothing all the time (a LOT cheaper than a pottery yarn bowl!)

Now we know what my next project will be!!
